Lottery process continuing at Dr. Lila Fahlman

As a Level 3 school, Dr. Lila Fahlman will continue to have a lottery process for the 2026–27 school year. This will only impact new resident students living in the attendance area. It will not impact current students who attend the school.

The school will not accept new registrations from families living in the attendance area if the student is not resident student of Edmonton Public Schools. In most cases, a resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic.

Resident students who aren’t selected through the lottery process can attend their overflow designated school, Johnny Bright School, a Level 1 Division school with space in planned classes, or remain at their current school.

Siblings of students currently attending Dr. Lila Fahlman School

New resident students in the attendance area who have a sibling returning to the school next year will get priority, but are not guaranteed to attend.

You can now use SchoolZone to report when your child will be absent from school. This new feature is optional for Division schools, and our school is excited to participate.

On your mobile phone or desktop computer, enter your child’s absence starting a week before it occurs or up to the day they are absent. In SchoolZone, choose the Student Profile Menu and then Attendance to enter an absence.

If you prefer to call the school to report an absence, you can continue to do so.

Principal's Message

Welcome to Dr. Lila Fahlman School.

I am honored to be appointed principal of Dr. Lila Fahlman School and thrilled to work with all students, families, staff, and community members.

Dr. Lila Fahlman was an educator, school trustee, philanthropist, social justice advocate, and a Member of the Order of Canada. She believed that if at first you do not succeed, you must go back and learn from those mistakes in order for you to reach your goals. She felt that “everything is possible” and persevered throughout her lifetime. As the school named in her honor, we are committed to exemplifying and celebrating these same qualities.

Dr. Lila Fahlman School is a safe, nurturing environment where a diverse community of learners come together to reach its greatest potential. We are committed to creating a learning environment where all students experience academic success and personal growth with a strong sense of belonging. Our school creates meaningful learning opportunities that promote responsible global citizenship and academic success for 21st-century students. We believe that the development of the child is the shared responsibility of the student, family, teacher, and community. We continually endeavor to support all our students so every one of them, as Dr. Lila Falhman would have wanted, can Reach for the Stars!

It is a privilege to serve as your school principal.

Cory MacTaggart B.Ed, M.Ed
