    REGISTRATION

    REGISTRATION 2024-25

Registration opens on February 1, 2024. All new registrations, including Kindergarten should be done online. Children who are five years old on or before December 31, 2024 may register in Kindergarten for the 2024-25 school year. Learn more about kindergarten registration.

If your child is new to Edmonton Public Schools, you can register for school online. Visit the Division website to learn how to register for school.

Dr. Lila Fahlman School serves the attendance area of Allard and Callaghan neighbourhoods only.

To help address enrolment growth and space shortages, Dr. Lila Fahlman School has a lottery process for new students enrolling for the 2024–25 school year. The lottery only impacts new resident* students living in the designated attendance area who wish to enrol in a grade that does not have space in planned classes. Students who are currently enrolled at Dr. Lila Fahlman or who wish to enrol in a grade with space in planned classes, are not impacted.

*A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic.

    LOTTERY PROCESS ONCE PRE-ENROLMENT CLOSES

After pre-enrolment closes at 4 p.m. on March 22, families of resident students will receive a call from the school about the lottery results by April 12, 2024.

    • If selected in the lottery, new resident students will attend the school.
    • If not selected in the lottery, new resident students will:

      • be able to attend their overflow designated school or choose to enrol at a Level 1 school with space in planned classes. Siblings may also enrol at the overflow designated school, and

      • be able to request to be placed on a callback list if spaces open before March 21, 2025.

REGISTERING AT AN OVERFLOW DESIGNATED SCHOOL OR OTHER DIVISION SCHOOL

We will help resident families who were not selected in the lottery process to register at their overflow designated school, Johnny Bright. If families choose to go to another Edmonton Public school, they will need to call or email their preferred school to see if there is space in planned classes.

Siblings will also be able to attend the overflow designated school, but if families choose to go to another Division school with space in planned classes, siblings are not guaranteed to attend.

    REGISTRATION AFTER MARCH 22

Resident students who newly move into a Level 3 school’s attendance area for the 2024–25 school year after pre-enrolment closes on March 22 can be added to the bottom of the callback list. Students can attend their overflow designated school, another Edmonton Public school with space in planned classes, or remain at their current school, if applicable.

SIBLINGS OF CURRENT STUDENTS ATTENDING OUR SCHOOL

New resident students in the attendance area with a sibling returning to the school next year will get priority, but are not guaranteed to attend.

DR. LILA FAHLMAN REGISTRATION FOR 2023-24

We are currently full in all planned classes for Kindergarten, grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 for the 2023-24 school year.  If you have recently moved into our neighbourhood, please contact Dr. Lila Fahlman School first at 587-489-4710.

    TRANSPORTATION TO OVERFLOW DESIGNATED SCHOOLS

Yellow bus service to Johnny Bright School will be available for eligible K-6 students. Bus fees will apply.

Students who require yellow bus service must apply before June 1, 2024. Important information and application forms can be found on the Applying for Yellow Bus Service page on epsb.ca.

Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) is the preferred transportation method for junior high and high school students; however, if ETS is not available, eligible students attending their overflow designated school may be able to apply for yellow bus service.

Welcome

Welcome to the online home for Dr. Lila Fahlman School. Dr. Lila Fahlman School opened in September 2017 and provides programming for students in Kindergarten to Grade 9 who live in the Allard and Callaghan neighbourhoods in southwest Edmonton. Committed to honoring the life of our namesake, students at Dr. Lila Fahlman will be supported to Reach for the Stars!

Principal's Message

Welcome to Dr. Lila Fahlman School.

I am honored to be appointed principal of Dr. Lila Fahlman School and thrilled to work with all students, families, staff, and community members.

Dr. Lila Fahlman was an educator, school trustee, philanthropist, social justice advocate, and a Member of the Order of Canada. She believed that if at first you do not succeed, you must go back and learn from those mistakes in order for you to reach your goals. She felt that “everything is possible” and persevered throughout her lifetime. As the school named in her honor, we are committed to exemplifying and celebrating these same qualities.

Dr. Lila Fahlman School is a safe, nurturing environment where a diverse community of learners come together to reach its greatest potential. We are committed to creating a learning environment where all students experience academic success and personal growth with a strong sense of belonging. Our school creates meaningful learning opportunities that promotes responsible global citizenship and academic success for 21st-century students. We believe that the development of the child is the shared responsibility of the student, family, teacher, and community. We continually endeavor to support all our students so every one of them, as Dr. Lila Falhman would have wanted, can Reach for the Stars!

It is a privilege to serve as your school principal.

Cory MacTaggart B.Ed, M.Ed
